It is not easy to keep Spyware and Adware off of your computer.  But with a little diligence and forethought, the problem will not be insurmountable.   The following list identifies areas where spyware hides, if you do the following 1st then the spyware programs will find very little.  Let's begin:

- delete the temp files in internet explorer (open internet explorerer and choose menu item Tools\internet options and under the general tab - delete the cookies and delete files under the temporary internet files section. While there, go to the settings button and view objects - if any of these do not show the name or show damaged, right click and delete. these will be automatically reinstalled from the internet when properly called for.

- delete the files in the the windows\temp folder

- delete the files in the windows\prefetch folder ( these files will be properly regenerated when you restart without the spyware).

-Now run your utilities, you may choose to run the programs on this page, but be aware of what you are doing! Read the info 1st.

Run:   Startup Control Panel - Info -good 1st start
ToolBar Cop - info - these Browser Helper Operations are what slows down your computer on the internet
Hijack This - info - save as text file and paste in the analyzer

** If you are not sure what it is then don't delete it - check it out at spyware search **

You may install Spybot Search and destroy ( read the info) and be sure to update the definitions after installing Spybot Search and destroy. This is one of the best free programs available.

- You may also run the free online scan and removal from the button on the center of this page. be sure to use the spyware guide search link for any files in question. If they are not listed at this site, then they are not spyware.

It is amazing to me that these people can infultrate your computer and make your life miserable - and we let them do it. Protest this intrusive behavior - contact your congressman or representative today and tell them you want this stopped. While you are there - tell them you will not tolerate pornography on the open internet either - these locations should be relegated to their own extension, to allow you to properly block those sites (not .com, but possibly .xxx ). If I want to go to these sites I will, but I do not want them popping up in front of my children or anyone, who does not specifically request this type of info.
